ImpressCMS 1.2 Final is Released

Almost 14 months in the making, ImpressCMS 1.2 is now ready as a Final release! ImpressCMS 1.1 was released at the end of October 2008 and the scope of changes in this release has kept the developers, testers and translators busy.

ImpressCMS has had a short, but notable history - founded in 2007, an initial release in January 2008, 3rd place in Packt Publishing's Most Promising Open Source CMS in 2008 and 1st place in 2009, a 2008 finalist in SourceForge's Community Choice Awards, 32 separate releases and almost 10,000 commits in its code repository.

This release is a Final release, meaning it is ready for use on a live site!

ImpressCMS 1.2 RC 2 Released!

After the release of 1.2 RC a few weeks ago, we are happy to announce the release of ImpressCMS 1.2 RC 2 !

In this release, several necessary improvements were made, among them

Issues with WYSIWYG editors were resolved
Instructions for upgrading the content pages from previous versions were emphasized
Moved images to the imagemanager folder during an upgrade
Sanitizing folder names when adding a new image category

Instant Zero modules now reside within ImpressCMS

Recently we all shared the unfortunate news that Instant Zero has decided to end development of their modules, along with the closure of their business and website. This came as a tremendous shock and loss to not only ImpressCMS but XOOPS as well. Both communities were left wondering what was to happen to such useful modules, which are widely used across a large percentage of XOOPS and ImpressCMS powered websites.

After consulting with HervÃ© Thouzard, the owner of Instant Zero, it is with great pleasure that we are announcing that ImpressCMS is able to offer support and continued development of some of Instant Zero's modules.

First appearing in last year's Packt Publishing Open Source CMS competition and finishing 3rd in the Most Promising category, the ImpressCMS community and developers turned their focus to living up to the expectations of a most promising CMS. The result is the winning spot in Packt's 2009 competition. This award is an honor earned from strong community support and a panel of experienced and respected figures in the open source and Content Management industry.

Winning this award is indeed an honor, but we truly appreciate the support of the community that has brought us to this position.We also would like to thank and recognize the other finalists - Pligg, Manhali, Redaxscript and Pixie. They are certain to remain key players in the open source world.

ImpressCMS 1.1.3 Final: It's Here!

The ImpressCMS Project (www.impresscms.org) proudly announces a stable release of ImpressCMS 1.1.3. This release is a security update for the PHP OpenID and Smarty libraries included with the ImpressCMS core, no new features have been introduced.

Since its beginning, the developers of ImpressCMS have made security aÂ priority - continually auditing existing code and testing new code for stronger security measures.

ImpressCMS 1.1.3 Beta is Released

In an ongoing effort to provide our users with a secure content management system, ImpressCMS is releasing 1.1.3 Beta. This release is a security update to the Smarty and PHPOpenID libraries.

Smarty is our current template engine, driving the way pages are built and displayed by ImpressCMS. PHPOpenID allows us to use OpenID authentication for logins on an ImpressCMS site.

While these are well contained updates and have been proven in our test environments, we are releasing this as a beta release - do not install this on a live site without testing or creating backups.

ImpressCMS is proud to announce the release of 1.1.2 Final. ImpressCMS 1.1.2 Final is being released to address several issues discovered along with various improvements made in many other areas. Users are encouraged to install this release in a production environment, or upgrade their existing sites.
