ImpressCMS is 2009's Most Promising Open Source CMS

First appearing in last year's Packt Publishing Open Source CMS competition and finishing 3rd in the Most Promising category, the ImpressCMS community and developers turned their focus to living up to the expectations of a most promising CMS. The result is the winning spot in Packt's 2009 competition. This award is an honor earned from strong community support and a panel of experienced and respected figures in the open source and Content Management industry.
Winning this award is indeed an honor, but we truly appreciate the support of the community that has brought us to this position. We also would like to thank and recognize the other finalists - Pligg, Manhali, Redaxscript and Pixie. They are certain to remain key players in the open source world.
What Next?
Not ones to rest on our laurels, we are on the eve of releasing ImpressCMS 1.2 RC and looking ahead to even more fun next year. ImpressCMS will also be represented by our very own sato-san at the Open Source Expo 09 in Karlsruhe, Germany on the 15th and 16th of November.
This award adds $2000 to our treasury and a full report for the 3rd quarter of 2009 is being finalized. Plans to begin using these funds in 2010 are being laid out, focusing on 3 different aspects: Benevolence, Expenses and Promotions.

In its short history, ImpressCMS is closing in on 10,000 commits to its code base - a great tribute to all the developers that have contributed to this project. The number of downloads of each version is growing and we have a number of translations available.
The goal of the ImpressCMS Project is to stimulate and promote the open source nature of the CMS in both the core and its modules and establish itself as the premiere CMS by expanding the system to meet the needs of their users now and well into the future.
